Theater & Ballet"Karl Lundeberg's score for Sir Peter Hall's production of Romeo and Juliet bathes the stage with a golden wash of baroque/world music transporting us instantly to another time and nother place." -- Los Angeles Times "Karl Lundeberg's brave and exciting music for American Repertory Theater's production of The Changeling, directed by Robert Brustein, has proved to be a most effective and unusual match, capturing a hallucinatory chemistry." -- Downbeat Magazine "A rare thing indeed, a jazz/classical/world music fusion which has soul...a consistently engaging journey ranging from the earthy to the atmospheric." -- Chicago Tribune |

Karl Lundeberg is one of America's leading composers of music for the theater. His first score was written for the American Repertory Theater's 1984 production of King Stag, directed by Andre Serban and Julie Taymor, co-composed with Eliot Goldenthal. This now legendary production quickly established Karl as a composer and a large part of his work over the ensuing twenty five years has been in creating musical scores for America's most prominent theater companies. From 1997 through 2004 he served as Composer-in-Residence for the Mark Taper Forum at the Los Angeles Music Center. Over two hundred scores have yielded a large body of recorded music, and a retrospective double album of Karl Lundeberg's theater and ballet music is in pre-production, for release in 2010. |
